Scripture Verse

"Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." 1 John 3:18

Let Go!

If we could only trust our Saviour with our problems, they would be solved beyond anything we could do.

Notice the hand of Jesus.  He isn't reaching out to grab the problem, but waiting open handed for us to give Him our problem.

Notice the hands of the person holding the problem.  They are holding on tight...just like us and our problems.  We tend to hang on tight.  We want to give them to God.  We say we give them to God, but we take them back, we hang on too tightly.

We need to 'let go'.   Open our hands up, drop it in the hands of Jesus!

And when those doubts and fear come knocking on our mind's door...Just answer with  "I gave it to God"

Don't get me wrong.  There are times when we are suppose to work through our problems...like if we get ourselves in financial debt.  We have to fix that; there are many other problems/situations that we cause ourselves.  But it's the fear, the anxiety, the persecution, the hurt, the bitterness, the rage, the jealousy, ... that we need to let go of.

Trust.   Faith.

Staying Afloat

Keeping our eyes focused on God midst our trouble is often difficult.   We feel like we are drowning and don't know were to look for help.

For the past six months, that has been me.
Here is what has been going on.   Back in June of last year, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and had a heart attack.  She had surgery which resulted in the diagnosis of the cancer being at stage three.  In August I got a full time job; turned out to last only three months, because I didn't have the management skills the employers really wanted.  Then our dog died over the Christmas Holidays.  My Mom finished Chemo and started Radiation.  Our furnace quit beginning of January and we almost died due to Carbon Monoxide poisoning because of it.  The furnace still isn't fixed.  No furnace, in below freezing temperatures, is not fun to deal with...frozen pipes and complaining kids).  I feel overwhelmed, and emotional.

The concept on keeping your eyes on Christ during times of trouble is something I have always heard; something I have always 'known'.   But it is during the midst of trouble that these concepts often take on new meaning for us.

Once you look up, your head is tilted back, and you can breath through your nose again, (and float).

I know that, as a human, I will look around and start to sink again.  But looking back up, refocusing on God, will help me get through this.

The Good Sheherd

Luke 19:10   "For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost."

A Helping Hand

What do you do when you need help?

Do you reach up?

Christ is always waiting to help.
We may not literally see His hand, but He helps us.
All we have to do is ask.

Do you see someone who needs help?  Don't hesitate to step in and help.  That person may not see you, they may see Christ in you.  You can be Christ's hands and feet here on earth.

Trying to run from God?

We all try to do our own thing.  We turn from following the One who knows us best, knows our future, and knows what is best for us.  Yet time and again we stop following and try to get what we want, making ourselves miserable in the process.

Thank you Lord, for your gentle reminders, persistence, and patience

A child's view

I want to first apologize for the long wait.  After two years of being unemployed, I recently started a new job. Praise God for that.  If you remember, please pray for my son, he maybe needing surgery.

Now, new post...
This time I am not putting on a picture.  My son, who is twelve, is the inspiration behind this post.

We were recently driving through our town, and he saw a man on his bike.  Beside the bike was this man's dog, who was not leashed.  My son watched this two-some until we drove by, then he sat in reflection for a few minutes before turning to me.
"We are like that mom," he said
"How?"  I asked, wondering what he was meaning.
"God is like the man on the bike."  He began.  "We are like that dog.  God has us off the leash, trusting us that we will follow Him.  But we're like bad dogs.  We get distracted by things and run away."

Only through the eyes of a child, are we reminded how much God loves us and wants us to trust and follow only Him.
