Scripture Verse

"Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." 1 John 3:18

Do I really Matter?

Sometimes we may feel insignificant; like no one see us.  You may feel like you are alone; that no one cares.  You may feel like you don't really matter to anyone at all.

You do matter.

There are times when you may feel like no one is there to give you a hug, when you need one.  Or a listening ear when you talk.   Or a shoulder to cry one when you need one.

There is someone always available.

God sees you.  He knows what is going on in your life.  He laughs with you, listens to you, cries with you, and holds you close in His hand.

Staying Afloat

Keeping our eyes focused on God midst our trouble is often difficult.   We feel like we are drowning and don't know were to look for help.

For the past six months, that has been me.
Here is what has been going on.   Back in June of last year, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and had a heart attack.  She had surgery which resulted in the diagnosis of the cancer being at stage three.  In August I got a full time job; turned out to last only three months, because I didn't have the management skills the employers really wanted.  Then our dog died over the Christmas Holidays.  My Mom finished Chemo and started Radiation.  Our furnace quit beginning of January and we almost died due to Carbon Monoxide poisoning because of it.  The furnace still isn't fixed.  No furnace, in below freezing temperatures, is not fun to deal with...frozen pipes and complaining kids).  I feel overwhelmed, and emotional.

The concept on keeping your eyes on Christ during times of trouble is something I have always heard; something I have always 'known'.   But it is during the midst of trouble that these concepts often take on new meaning for us.

Once you look up, your head is tilted back, and you can breath through your nose again, (and float).

I know that, as a human, I will look around and start to sink again.  But looking back up, refocusing on God, will help me get through this.

The Conscience

I came across a passage in my daily reading that I thought I would share with you.  It is a passage that I had never heard talked about before but I thought it was very powerful.  This passage didn't create an illustration in my mind (as other passages often do--of which I post here); but made me think and examine myself.

1 Corinthians 4:4
My conscience is clear, but that doesn't prove I'm right.  It is the Lord Himself who will examine me and decide.
